Plettenberg Bay
Tutors Workshop December 2010
We have just completed the final workshop of the year with 60 tutors being trained by our Norwegian Exchange teachers from the Norwegian Band Federation (http://www.musikkorps.no) and 4 field percussion and show design experts from Vlamo (http://www.vlamo.be) The members had a fantastic time and worked very hard and learned a lot. We were very honoured that both our founders Bertie and Ronnie Lubner attended the final concert of the workshop. Download and read the Workshop Report We would like to thank the NMF and FK who funds the Norwegian Exchange programme and also Vlamo and the Flemish Government, who funds the Flemish programme. Our international partners have made a massive impact on the FBF and its development and although we still have a long way to go, we would never have been the organisation we are now without them. THANK YOU! Click above to watch a new video from BASA about the FBF. The video includes interviews with curent members and the Chairman of the FBF, Herman Mashaba.

Norwegian Royal
Performance
The FBF was
requested to perform for the Norwegian King and Queen on their recent state
visit to South Africa. This was indeed a great honour and after meeting our
Chairman Herman Mashaba they watched the national Field band perform together
with some young dancers from the Alexandra Field band. It was a unique
opportunity for the Field Band Foundation to thank the Norwegian Royals for all
the support we have received from Norway over the last 8 years and a very
special occasion for our members.
Pilot programme leads the way for a mid February 2010 official start of the FBF Academy In November we completed the pilot programme for the FBF Academy to see whether the curriculum was well designed and at the correct level. Our research was obviously well done as it went very smoothly and although we learned a lot which will not doubt help a lot next year all worked very well and the participants responded incredibly well. We have had over 100 applications for 30 places at the school next year. So obviously we need to increase the numbers quite soon to the ideal number of 60 per year. We are looking forward to the challenge. |
